BOOST #041: The "I'm Not Ready Yet" Excuse 😶🌫️
Obedience Over Readiness & Trusting in God's Timing
💖 DEVOTIONAL:
"And Moses said to the Lord, 'O my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.'" - Exodus 4:10 (ESV)
"Then I said, 'Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.' But the Lord said to me, 'Do not say, "I am only a youth"; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.'" - Jeremiah 1:6-7 (ESV)
It's a familiar scene. God calls, and we respond with, "I'm not ready yet." We cloak our reluctance in the disguise of needing more preparation, fearing that we're not good enough, skilled enough, or eloquent enough to step into His calling. This "I'm not ready yet" excuse often conceals a deeper fear of failure or rejection.
The truth is, many great servants of God had similar doubts. Moses, when called to lead the Israelites, said, "I am not eloquent." Jeremiah protested, "I do not know how to speak; I am only a youth." Their excuses weren't rooted in a lack of readiness but in the fear that they would fall short.
This fear of inadequacy often leads to procrastination. We put off what God calls us to do, waiting for the elusive moment when we'll feel "ready." But God's response to Moses and Jeremiah is clear: He equips those He calls. He doesn't expect us to be perfect; He expects us to be obedient.
Remember, the "I'm not ready yet" excuse is just that—an excuse. It's fear dressed up as preparation. When we embrace this fear, we delay the blessings God wants to pour into our lives and through our lives. Instead, we should heed His call with open hearts, knowing that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses.
So, if you've been saying, "I'm not ready yet," pause and reflect on what might be hiding behind that excuse. Ask God for courage to step out in faith, trusting that He will equip you for every good work. Don't let fear disguise itself as a need for more preparation. God has prepared you for this very moment.
🙏 PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we confess our fear of inadequacy and our tendency to hide behind the "I'm not ready yet" excuse. Give us the courage to answer Your call, knowing that Your grace is sufficient. Help us trust in Your equipping, for Your strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. Let us not procrastinate but instead move forward in obedience, ready to embrace Your plan for our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

I'm one of those people who don't like ice cream.. I'm more of a cake gal!🍰
One by Tesco called 'Jungle Madness' - it's kind of a banoffee one, I think! Or banana and caramel, but that kind of vibe!
