BOOST #114: God Created Everything—But Not “Everything” 🤔
What Genesis teaches us about why YOUR creativity matters
💖 DEVOTIONAL:
"Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name." — Genesis 2:19 (ESV)
God didn’t need Adam to name the animals. He could’ve done it Himself—probably in a fraction of a second and with far better names. But instead, He brought each creature to Adam and waited. Waited. Just to see what he would call them.
That little moment in Genesis has always fascinated me. It’s not flashy or miraculous—it’s intimate. How tender. It's as if God is saying, “I’ve done my part. Now, I want to see what you’ll do with it.” That’s not a distant God. That’s a collaborative, relational one.
And I wonder… how many times has God handed us raw materials and said the same thing? A melody, a memory, a story, a blank canvas—and whispered, “What will you make of this?” He didn’t create every film, every poem, every invention, every song. He left room. Not because He fell short, but because He loves to include us.
I think sometimes we assume that if something is truly “from God,” it’ll drop into our laps, fully formed. But what if He’s inviting us to be part of the forming? What if He’s already handed us the ingredients and is now simply waiting to see what we'll name them?
Maybe the work we’re called to do isn’t just about producing something impressive, or something that’s meant to go viral. Maybe it’s about saying yes to the process—messy, imperfect, sacred. Maybe creating with God is less like executing a blueprint and more like sharing a meal. He brings the bread and fish, and somehow there’s more than enough.
So if you’re staring at a blank screen or doubting whether your ideas matter, remember this: God could’ve done it all, but He didn’t. He left something unfinished… because He wanted you in on it. So go ahead. Make the thing. Name the animal. God is watching—not with a red pen, but with anticipation & delight.
🙏 PRAYER:
Father, thank You for inviting me into the creative process. Help me to see my creativity as a partnership with You, not a performance. Give me the courage to create freely, knowing that You delight in what I make with You. Help me trust that what I bring to the table matters, even if it feels small. May everything I create point back to Your goodness and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
💡 TIP OF THE WEEK:
This week, revisit a project or idea you’ve been hesitant to start because it didn’t feel “spiritual enough.” Remind yourself: God gave you this creative spark on purpose. Write, draw, design, or build something with Him—not for approval, but for relationship. Don’t worry about making it perfect. Just participate.
☝️ God gave you creativity for a reason.
