BOOST #116: Jesus Showed His Scars— Maybe You Should Too 🩹
Why your imperfect creations still matter
💖 DEVOTIONAL:
Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see My hands; and put out your hand, and place it in My side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” Thomas answered Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen Me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” — John 20:27–29 (ESV)
Thomas gets a bad rap sometimes. Doubting Thomas. Skeptical Thomas. But honestly? I get him. Sometimes you just need something real—tangible, visible, human. And instead of scolding him, Jesus offers exactly that: His wounds. His proof of life.
Here’s the detail that I love about this account: Jesus could’ve come back with glowing skin and angelic choirs. Instead, He came back scarred. And those scars became part of the story. They were more than just reminders of suffering—they were the evidence.
Now imagine your creativity through that lens. Your poems, your art, your music, your reels—they might not be perfect. But they carry something. Hopefully, something real. They could carry the proof that you’ve wrestled, waited, hoped, failed, prayed, and found life and love to create again. And that kind of authenticity? It makes people lean in.
Your art doesn't need to be a theological thesis. It just needs to be honest enough that someone else says, “You too?” Maybe your process is the wound and your art is the scar—something healed but still human. Something that says: Jesus met me here. And He’s alive.
Not everyone will read Scripture this week (sadly). But maybe they’ll read your caption. Maybe they’ll see your illustration. Maybe your art is the thing God uses to say, “See? I’m still here.”
🙏 PRAYER:
Jesus, thank You for showing up in ways that meet us where we are. Help me not to hide my scars or wait until my work is polished to let it be seen. Use my creativity to point people toward You—even in quiet, honest ways. Let my art reflect the life You’ve brought back to me. Amen.
💡 TIP OF THE WEEK:
This week, share something that reflects God's truth—not in a preachy way, but in a personal way. Maybe it’s a design inspired by a verse that’s been grounding you lately. Maybe it’s a caption about how God met you in a low moment, or a piece that wrestles with doubt but still reaches for hope. Whatever it is, let it come from a real place. Your creativity doesn’t have to preach a sermon—it just has to be sincere.
