BOOST #127: What If You’re Not Behind After All? 🐢
A reminder for the creative who feels stuck in slow motion.
💖 DEVOTIONAL:
“Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.” —Proverbs 23:17–18 (ESV)
Ever feel like everyone else is moving faster than you? That other creatives have the progress, the followers, the growth, the “overnight success” you’ve been praying for? I get it. It’s hard not to look at someone else’s success and wonder if you’re doing something wrong.
But sometimes, slow isn’t bad. In fact, a lot of times, slow is faithful. Maybe it’s taking you a while because you’re not cutting corners. You’re not manipulating people, you’re not selling out your values just to get ahead. And that matters. It matters more than you think.
Proverbs says, “Don’t envy sinners.” It’s easy to forget that not every shortcut is worth the cost. Fast doesn’t always mean blessed. But let’s not forget: “fast” isn’t the enemy either. God can move fast. He can open doors overnight. The same God who takes decades to shape an oak tree can also resurrect the dead in a moment. The point isn’t fast or slow… it’s faithfulness.
Keep showing up. Keep making the work. Keep your hands clean and your heart soft. Growth that honors God may look slower from the outside, but it’s solid. It’s real. It’s something you won’t have to apologize for later.
So today, take the pressure off your timeline. You’re not behind. You’re right on time when you walk in integrity. There is a future for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
🙏 PRAYER:
Father, help me to trust Your pace for my life and my creativity. Guard my heart from envy, and teach me to walk in integrity, even when it feels slow. Remind me that my hope is safe in You, and that faithfulness is never wasted. Amen.
💡 TIP OF THE WEEK:
Do a quick heart check this week. When you feel anxious about where you “should” be by now, ask: “Am I compromising anything to get there faster?” If the answer is yes, bring it to God. If the answer is no, celebrate that you’re building something that lasts. Write it down somewhere you can see: “God honors faithfulness. Fast or slow.”
