BOOST #121: AI Can’t Do This. 🤖
A reminder of your irreplaceable creative role as image-bearers
💖 DEVOTIONAL:
“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him;”
— Genesis 1:27 (ESV)
Let’s just say it—AI can be really amazing. Today, AI tools can already create hyper-realistic videos, write entire books, produce high quality music, even mimic an intricate visual artist’s style. But as impressive (and, let’s be honest, sometimes discouraging) as that might be, it’s missing something essential at the core of its creative process: AI can imitate (in much the same way that we do, only faster), but it cannot reflect the same way you are designed to.
Here’s why: You are created in the image of God. AI isn’t. When you write, paint, compose, or design, you’re not just rearranging 1s and 0s. You’re mirroring the Creator Himself. As Jordan Raynor puts it, “when we follow His call to create… we are not just doing something good for the world, we are doing something God-like.” Unlike AI—crafted by human hands and limited by the collective intelligence of its creators—you carry within you the imprint of God’s boundless creativity. God wove into you something no machine can replicate: the ability to reflect His heart, His creativity, His love.
I’ll be honest. There have been days when I’ve wondered if what I make even matters. Especially in a world where a few clicks can churn out a polished product, it’s easy to feel like my handmade efforts are small, slow, and insignificant. But then I remember: my worth isn’t in how impressive or efficient my work is, but in who I’m made to reflect.
AI can remix, but it can’t reveal God’s heart the way you can. More than just your output, your creativity is your living response to a living God. When you create, you’re participating in something sacred. You’re pointing to something bigger than algorithms and aesthetics.
I’d like to think about it this way: AI is like a robot copying a love letter. It can reproduce the words beautifully, copy the style, maybe even improve it, but it doesn’t understand the meaning behind them. It can’t feel the love. It can’t initiate the relationship. It can only mimic the surface, but it can’t express the soul.
So don’t let the machines make you feel small. God didn’t just give you creativity to churn out art. He gave it so you could reflect. And the world needs what only you, as an image-bearer, can offer.
🙏 PRAYER:
Father, thank You for making me in Your image. Help me to remember that my creative work is more than just skill or style—it’s a reflection of Your heart. When I feel small or discouraged, remind me that no machine can replace the divine spark You’ve placed in me. Let my creativity always point back to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
